Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we share very sad news. Our dear colleague and friend, Thomas Stemann, passed away on the 25th September 2024. Tom was a valued member of our society and left a lasting impact on all of us. He was a Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. His research focused on Caribbean reef coral diversity and palaeoecological patterns from the Cretaceous through to the present. At our last International Fossil Coral and Reef Society Symposium in Poland, Tom was elected as a council member of our organisation.

During this difficult time, we want to express our deepest condolences to Tom’s family and loved ones, especially to his wife Eliza and his son Tom. We will do our utmost to support them in any way we can.

Tom will be deeply missed, both professionally and personally.

We take this opportunity to share some of the photographs members of the community have shared with us.
